Day 1

ARRIVE IN A BUZZING CAPITAL CITY

Ho Chi Minh City, which is commonly known as Saigon, is Vietnam’s commercial center and home to several landmark French colonial buildings. The city is alive with a buzzing street culture where locals dine and engage in various activities at the many local stalls that line the city streets. Upon arrival, you are fast-tracked through airport immigration and customs procedures to ensure you get a good start to your Vietnam journey. Your guide is waiting for you at the airport to transfer you to Park Hyatt Saigon, a French colonial style property where you will discover a sense of urban luxury with a combination of sophisticated design, handcrafted details and modern-day comforts. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

CITY HIGHLIGHTS AND ART HISTORY

Day 2

Explore the city’s famous landmarks, from the Old Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, Presidential Palace and Historical Museum to the Jade Emperor Pagoda. Then discover traditional herbal remedies in Chinatown and stop for prayer service at Thien Hau temple to witness the monks atmospheric chant. In the afternoon, meet an art consultant on a tour developed by renowned historians, artists and curators. Learn about modern Vietnamese history, explore a private collection of colonial era works and a gallery displaying sketches of wartime artists. Then continue to an antique shop to see works dating back to the 1960s before heading to a contemporary art gallery works by Vietnamese and international artists are displayed.

Please note: The art history tour runs from Tuesday – Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00. Afternoon tours can be arranged from 13.30pm – 17.30. On Sunday tours of the Fine Arts Museum are also available.

Day 3

CU CHI TUNNELS EXPERIENCE

Take a drive through the lush countryside of southern Vietnam to visit the Cu Chi tunnels. Dug in 1948, the tunnel complex was used by the guerrilla army against the French and also served as a communications route, food and weapons caches as well as hospitals and living quarters during the Vietnam War. Explore the underground passages to understand more about the history and the resilience of Vietnamese fighters during combat. You also have a unique opportunity to meet with a veteran who once lived in the tunnels to learn about his personal story. Return to the city for an afternoon at leisure. In the evening, enjoy the A O Show, a stunning visual feast of lighting and optical illusions performed at Opera House Theater.

EXPLORING THE MEKONG DELTA

Day 4

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely 2-hour drive to Cai Lay district in the Mekong Delta. Upon arrival at Cai Lay pier, board a Mekong Eco Boat for a 30-minute boat ride along one of the small branches of the Mekong River and disembark at Cam Son Bridge. Then travel in local style on a traditional xe loi through narrow village roads for about 7 kilometers to reach a local home where you can have a chat with the owner and taste some fresh fruits. Then return to your xe loi and continue riding to visit an ancient house where you can stop for a simple lunch. After lunch, take a short walk to the main road, about 15 minutes, where your driver and private vehicle are waiting to take you back to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 5

JOURNEY TO THE HIGHLANDS CAPITAL

Check out early and transfer to the airport for a domestic flight bound for Dalat, located on an elevated plateau in the southern parts of the Central Highlands region. Upon arrival, you are greeted by your local guide and transferred to Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel, a French colonial style property that delivers a refined elegance and spacious art deco suites amid pine-covered gardens. After checking in, head out to explore wild pathways to enjoy views of the surrounding mountains. You can also see the Summer Palace of King Bao Dai, Linh Phuoc Pagoda, Dalat Flower Garden and the “Crazy House”, a unique architectural spectacle. Then ride a cable car to visit Tuyen Lam Lake, Truc Lam Zen Monastery and Xuan Huong Lake.

THE WINDING SILK ROAD

Day 6

Experience the countryside feeling of Dalat on a winding “Silk Road”, which links products of uncommon quality. See a wide expanse of flower farms with an array of roses, chrysanthemums, lilies, carnations and orchids. Visit coffee plantations where the aroma of fresh Arabica and Robusta beans fills the air.  Then discover the secret to authentic weasel coffee, rice wine distillation and cricket farming. Plus, see how shimmering silk cloth is created from the cocoons of silkworms. Continue to Elephant Waterfall where you can explore natural caves and tunnels which were used during the Vietnam War. Next, see the happy Buddha and colorful statues at Linh An Pagoda before visiting black pepper and passion fruit plantations.

VIETNAM’S REMOTE COASTAL RESORT

Day 11

FAREWELL TO PARADISE

Make the most of your final morning in the remote and untamed paradise of Vinh Hy Bay, tucked away on the southern coast of Vietnam. If time permits, you may choose to enjoy a last chance to swim or sunbathe on the beach before checking out in the late morning. At 11:30, as you bid farewell to the resort, meet your driver and board your private vehicle for the overland transfer to Cam Ranh Airport, located near the city of Nha Trang. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours, passing scenic Vietnamese landscapes on the way. Once at the airport, check in and board your domestic flight bound for Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival in the capital, transfer to your connecting flight to your next destination or onward journey.
